waterhouse is being taken over by ameritrade.. not ameritrade being taken out by waterhouse.

i moved my waterhouse account to ameritrade. the cost to trade at waterhouse is unreasonable i think $17. mrkt and maybe $20 limit.

ameritrade offers all kinds of free stuff based on value of account or trades per month. level 11 free etc. wires checking. replacement checks .
you will not get that interest at full broker .. i also hold a scottrade account. why , balance if one system down i can use the other. also scottrade has an office a few miles from here.

My online brokers at the time (National Discount Brokers; DLJ Direct; Watley Trader; Lombard) didn't do Keoughs (Profit sharing; Money Purchase)when I needed to set them up well over 10 years ago. Fidelity was very helpful with the paperwork. So I set up Mutual Fund Keoughs with Fidelity. I have never paid any commissions with Fidelity so I don't know. I've just traded NTF (No Transaction Fee) Funds from them. I came to Ameritrade via National Discount Brokers. Ameritrade bought them out and I gave them a shot. They are good. No complaints.
