Risk as in beta, as in volatility, as in annual range. There are places to make 1% or even 2% in one or two days, with no capital outlay. I was arguing that if you are in Cisco your goal of 10% is too low and/or it's the wrong stock for that goal.

Further, with LTCG rates as low as they are, the entry point is relevant. Having a goal of only a pretax return is shortsighted.

This company has almost no downside risk.

Usually I would say that sounds like a statement of a novice investor. As you have obviously been involved in stocks for a few years, you have no excuse, the above comment is just dumb.

Every stock/company has downside risk.

Were you also saying that back in early August when CSCO was trading near $20 only to then see it back-off down to $16 and change in mid-October?
