Ted, The truth is the unemployment rate ain't going down to 3.8% under this president.

Is 3.8% really good for the country, considering that Jimmy Carter once proclaimed 6% unemployment as "full employment"?

Is making more money good for the country? After all, people will just spend it.

In Carter's day, 6% was considered full employment. In fact, economists did not believe that unemployment could get much below 5%. Clinton proved them wrong......and we saw great benefit from it. Welfare rolls went down to the lowest they've been in decades. That alone was worth the lower unemployment rate.

Either way, I just wanted to bring up that one data point in light of the whole illegal immigration problem. Maybe the illegal immigrants really are taking jobs that the 4.9% who are unemployed don't want.

If that were true, why do I see whites, blacks and Asians doing work here that only illegals did in LA?

Of course, there are other concerns such as low-end wage pressure, public services, etc., but then again, the big picture never could be summed up with just a few talking points.

There is a huge hidden cost to the illegal population. They live in the inner city, jacking up density rates and overtaxing apt. buildings and the city's infrastructure. Plus, illegals pay few taxes and spend most of their money in their home country. So it is as if we are taking bags of money from our banks and shipping them south of the border. How does that help us?
