I agree that is a problem. The problem is that I couldn't find the for the EU as a whole. So I took what I could get and compared the numbers. UK has a higher level as measured in crimes per 100,000 Germany, Poland , France, and Italy have lower levels. Surprisingly France, with its large immigrant population has a lower crime rate per 100,000 than the US. The countries I picked have a population similar to the US population.

But I agree, it's not a satisfying statistic and only serves to indicate in which direction the problem is. As far as your inner city remark, you know as well as I that one would have to do the same for the countries I named. Their inner city problems are a large problem too.

Remember that the original topic was bank robberies and the death penalty.
