I will be in NYC friday at the Johnny Winter show and unable to monitor the thread.

A more closely related argument might be that slavery was not a problem would be that it conserved the environment in Africa by removing resource consuming humans from the otherwise pristine wilderness.

It is akin to the Iranian terrorist President's comments that the gas chambers were merely removing the Jewish infection from the cloths.

Either is an unacceptable and offensive argument.
