I totally agree -- your reference to a debate protocol when you were at the U of Chicago was typical of competitive debates and rational discussions between intellectually honest and emotionally stabile individuals. The key words here are "intellectually honest and emotionally stabile."

If Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, et. al., for example, really believed their illogic diatribe they all could be dismiss as pathetically challenged -- sadly for America they are not challenged rather they are pathetic intellectual frauds.

I always try to remember -- "He who robs Peter to pay Paul, is assured of Paul’s vote."

Conversely, we have Judge Alito, who is in the controlling position at this time – due entirely to the Democrats inaccuracies, poorly constructed arguments, and snap-back insults. Now all the judge has to do is remain courteous and emotionally unruffled. Just let the spotlight remain upon the hucksters. That makes it almost impossible for the talking-heads to establish an issue.

Judge Alito’s wife's tears yesterday were too much to hope for! What an elegant follow-up touch, and one that can not be countered, to that whole farcical scenario staged by the Liberals.

I’ll bet yesterday’s performance pissed off more than a few who now identify with his wife.

:^)

You are right, there is a parallel to the anti-Semitic noise on this thread.

The Democrats want their Ginsbergs treated with kid gloves and Alito to be demagogued. Republicans refuse to play dirty pool and Democrats refuse to play by Marquis of Queensbury rules. The Press Corpse routinely slants their publications in an attempt to give the advantage to Democrats.
