<She spends little time on her maths but always brings home A's >

She is no doubt 3 years more mature than the boys, so she should be doing maths that 16 year old boys are doing, instead of coasting through on A's, using her big brain, and thinking she's doing well. The school will not care as she is getting A's and will give their time to the children having problems.

I'm with your daughter on history. She's only 13 for goodness sakes. Anything older than 1990 would seem prehistoric and why bother learning stuff which has ceased to exist and has no effect? Current affairs is near enough to history and has an immediate impact on her. Why should she care that Ronald Raygun [some amazingly old guy who was totally senile and died a couple of years ago] didn't nuke Gorby who is a genial old chap who once upon a time ran a country which was once upon a time called USSR or something?

She's got more immediate and interesting things to do.

She ought to be given some serious maths and stuff to get her teeth into. Something to stretch her brain and make her feel challenged and successful.

Current affairs will naturally evolve into history anyway as she seeks to understand why the heck things are happening now which stem from times gone by, following the trail back to the beginning of time at the big bang, or intelligent design, or imaginary beginnings, or whatever is back in the mists of times gone by.
