He cited membership in that group in 1985, many years after he had left Princeton, because what the club stood for was appealing to his prospective employer.

Apparently trying to pad his resume to an extent because apparently he did almost nothing in the club. But I suppose his name was on the membership roles. But then a club membership isn't much of a padding and if he was on the rolls the resume entry was technically correct.


It is clear that his explanation is not clear.


But it isn't clear that there is anything wrong or unusual about not remembering much about the club or dishonest about saying he doesn't remember much about it.
