DB, I can agree with your post to TS.

However, I do not share your level of concern about domestic spying (my word) etc.

What troubles me is that many posters place the so called domestic spying issue in front of everything else. Almost to the point of a paranoia. That is not clear thinking in my view. The sovereignty of any nation comes first and that bring sacrifices by the people - some of which are not liked. Posters on various threads toss around comments like dictatorship, police state, etc. which is not only absurd as it applies to the US, but illustrates to me their inability to argue a position.

Of course, there are other possibilities which may drive this discourse - such as "blame Bush", get even with Bush etc.

Anyone using this logic while arguing the NSA warrant spying issue but not giving any credence to a need for closely monitoring international and domestic traffic in a time of war is being naive.

Even the media has reported on other Presidents doing essentially the same thing as Bush. In fact, clinton did it without a war. Bush Sr. did it during the Gulf war.

BTW, as far as I'm concerned the warrant issue is as meaningless as McCain's no torture deal. I seriously doubt there is anyone of sound mind and body in this country that would not insist on the government or law enforcement acting immediately if they were positive it would avoid another 9/11, or worse. Of course, some here will disagree.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, this will do it for me on this subject. Those that wish to beat a dead horse can use my posting space. <g>

Have a good weekend.
