A couple of weeks ago in Bangkok I ordered a custom tailored suit from very good fabric for $140. The tailoring wasn't the greatest, but the suit is still pretty good. Another $99 bought me 6 custom made shirts. I think it was a relatively expensive place, since I saw ads offering custom made suits starting from $14.

Labor and skills are cheap.... and, apparently, infinitely abundant. What this means in the context of "globalization"? Probably, nothing encouraging for Western manufacturers.

Would be surprised if Costco sells those suits at less than 100% markup. Probably more.

About the rates... one can only guess. But - imo in view of all the tremendous borrowing the US is doing, we would be reluctant to push rates high. And the manufacturing economies are in fear of rocking the boat. So, the game will continue... until the music stops... sooner or later.
