Yes, nothing surprising about this.

The standard Rove technique, when confronted with opposition is
to DESTROY the personal credibility of the person leading the opposition.

To Rove, whatever the FACTS are, are of no consequence. He determines what is the core of his opposition's credibility and
destroys that. His case may be based 100% on lies, but his point of view is:

-- a certain segment of the audience WANTS to see credibility destroyed in ANY figure of authority

-- most people will be thrown into DOUBT

-- if there is ANY rebuttal of the lies, it will get far less
coverage than the lies do.

-- the opposition will end up debating HIS agenda and that minimizes or shuts down their action of opposition.
