It sure looks that way unemployment decreasing gold rising in the same time frame.

Probably has more to do with cost of production and exploration rising. One could call this the sedate unfightable inflation of total world.

Just look at a long term chart of gold. When POG is rising there is good times. Gold does not and cannot rise during bad times. Just ask yourself why gold, after a rise, falls. Then ask yourself what causes bad times. You'll find the same agent causes both.
