VZ- i like VZ most from all the phone companies, mostly because of wireless. i was tempted to buy some, but then i read that beyond the pension shortfall, which runs in the ten's billions of $ there is also a healthcare liability, which runs at about 20B$, if memory serves right. This healthcare liability are not accounted for on the balance sheet. When I add this all up, i just see too much debt for my taste, that's why I passed.

FIOS is a gutsy bet, but they need more than broadband to make it pay for itself. I see problems with bringing TV to consumers, as it's cheaper to buy content in bulk, which VZ is not able to do for quite some time. i could see a nasty tug of war with cable, internet calling, satellite, phone companies, with uncertain outcome, so i am not tempted to buy any of the distribution companies.
