No.

Almost all of them went bust, totally bust. The standout exception was HM, Homestake, which was protected by implied monopoly status when its production was guaranteed by the US government for strategic purposes. By strategic here I mean in case US citizens shipped their private gold out of the country, for government was paranoid and believed Americans were sheep and would likely dump the US into the toilet, and believed the depression would degenerate into anarchy. You see, government thinks as dregs do, they have no confidence and no trust in the people. Problem is, taking that attitude will keep you poor all of your life, and that is true of any government dominated by that kind of thinking too.
