I'm not too worried VERY long term. I think what will eventually (of the many things that could) bring the chimpistration down will be his financial recklessness. He's never had to worry about money, and he projects that onto our government. Of course, we'll ALL pay, severely. It's not unlike the Republican administrations of the 1920's, and we know where THAT led. One of the results was 50 years of Democratic control of government. What we are experiencing now looks very different to me than at any other time in American history. Certainly, there were episodes similar like the McCarthy era but even then the GOP did not have the control they have now. They own all three branches of gov't.........and their leaders are very strong ideologues. For the past 5 years, they have quietly replaced all the major military leaders in the Pentagon with ones who think just like they do. Almost every branch of gov't has been replaced with their people. They control a lot of the state gov'ts. In my lifetime I have not seen a president act with the kind of impunity that Bush has...........the fact that he would come out fighting when it was reported that he was wiretapping without a court order speaks volumes. The fact that that issue languishes is another tell. The fact that Cheney and Alito publicly state the presidency must be made stronger and deny that the Constitution only allows Congress to declare war suggests at what level they hold the law as well as the truth. I think these are very dangerous times...........and we may losing everything. ted
