my wife used the synthroid for years however now on 11-thyrozine. generic. she has been sick for numerous years and huge medical bills. blood clots, brain tumor, etc etc.. lengthy hospital stays... i find meds not a great burden. Yes, they have increased a lot more in recent years because corporations are picking up less of the costs and cutting back on contributions to plans while also raising deductables. I always used generic drugs where available.

My understanding is canada is only competitive with brand name drugs. Since i only use a few brand name like actonel, miacalcin nasal spray i doubt i would save a great deal. in reviewing the 12 other drugs my wife takes all are generic.
my cost runs a few thousand. of course medco contract with company i worked for make sure i do not get more than prescribed and do insist on generic unless directed otherwise by doctor. I do believe corporation is picking up a couple thousand on our drugs. so we may have total exposure of about $4000 a year in generics.

i have been ordering drugs on line for about nine years. only once did i have a problem, ups left the package in driveway with thirtymile an hour wind. never to seen again until spring and snow disappeared. medco replaced order immediately with refill order. i find it so convienent to control meds over on line system. email reminders, prompt shipping, will fax doctor for new replacement prescriptions avoiding me calling or receiving a prescription and in turn remail prescription. dr. faxes directly new prescriptions i refuse to take a prescription from him unless its for immediate critical use.

overall i am very please with a drug system. I do not like the rise in prices and corporations backing out of contributions and at some time we will all be on a national program.
