I know several IT people that are doing just that - switched to real estate - one is a home inspector - a masters in computer science working in the IT industry didn't pay as well - he works in the seattle area checking roofs for leaks I guess - hehe - go figure. Perhaps his mental work can be exported to india - but home inspections still require a guy showing up locally. Telemedecine type technologies should fix this in the future - just walk through your house with a camera cell phone and let the outsourced home inspector in china tell you what to check.
