Of course, if they did change the law so that it read 72 hours after translation rather than capture, the administration could easily fudge the translation dates so that retroactive warrants could be attained at any time. You wouldn't like that, would you?

Fudging dates is a criminal act. Of course there would be those that will and want others to do it, but it would be very difficult to get everyone on board. Not all people who go into government want to become criminals.

In the same way murder is against the law, but that does not stop people from trying. And, of course some people get away with it. But that is the way how rule of law works. It may not seem like it, but the rule of law is a powerful tool and force.
