prosperous rednecks

That is just it Vosilla, several of these folks are actually WORSE off - more debt - work more hours - lower standard of living - cant afford medicine for momma like they used too and can only buy 1 dollar menu at mcdonalds instead of weekly trip to red lobster or sonnys bbq like the old days. That is my CONUNDRUM with these people - they keep shooting thier own foot. I think your simple answer has some merit though - the more prosperous rednecks (like some preachers - hehe) go to the churches with the less prosperpous rednecks and convince them that even though they have shot off thier right foot by thier foolish votes - shooting off thier left foot is the next step - unbelievable the sway one man still has over another based on "faith" for what is to come in the afterlife - no matter how hard things get in this life.

"Senator Kerry was reported to have said that he could win without the South. I don't want to win without the South. I'm going to go to the South, and I'm going to say to white guys who drive pick-up trucks with Confederate flag decals on the back of their car, "We want your vote too, 'cause your kids don't have health insurance either." [cheers].

perhaps some of his dumb speeches lost his votes in the south.
