I'm with you. The problem is that we'd like to build consensus within the UN and we all know that the EU (other than the UK) is filled with pacifists and we also know that China and Russia have way to much invested in Iran to allow a military strike.

Why do you think Iran, and North Korea before them, feels like they can act with impunity? They KNOW they can act with impunity because they KNOW we won't do a damn thing about it. Threats are only effective if you are ready to carry them out and the UN Security Council has proven time an again to be a toothless lion.

So what we should do is exactly what you have said. Everyone would be amazed, though, at the result, because the Iranians wouldn't believe the threat, just like Saddam didn't believe the threat until the act is done.
