I think of Hong Kong as Hong Kong, as in Money Rock, whereas Kowloon is Freedom Mountain, and the New Territories the hinterland.

I do not emerge on to the streets of Kowloon for more than once per year, and do not remember when I had last done so. No particular reason to go over there, even though only 5 minutes by subway and 20 minutes by ferry.
