My travel guides in Shanghai told me about it when I was there (October 29th - November 15th 2005) while we were touring through the areas formerly occupied by the Jews. After the war, the majority of them left for New York, New York! I don't know immediately what reference may be available to support what I wrote. As for the Jews in Kaifeng, they were such an insular group that they remained there until there were not enough of them to carry out the Torah in their synagogue. Needless to say, some of their women without partners of their own kind married some of the local men. Result: Chinese Jews and bastardized versions of the Hebrew writings and spellings of words. Inscriptions on stone tablets attest to this fact! .

Mike PS There were Jews who escaped from the Nazis and made there way to china where they were treated fairly. One recently died and he was an honored member of the CCP.
