Well, looks like the thread consensus is that Cisco should stay away from the consumer market. I was thinking much the same thing. It seems like a non-quality of earnings way to grow revenues. They should really stick to their core competencies. Oh well. At least Linksys has turned out to be a good buy. I imagine that if they go consumer in a big way, they will do it through Linksys, and those Linksys folks really do have a good pulse on the consumer networking market. The question is whether they can go further out from the network to edge products and succeed. I doubt it.

Does anyone remember a long time ago, in the 90's, when Cisco tried the consumer market thing and failed? I remember a lot of press releases and then no successes. The only tangible success in the consumer market that they've had is Linksys. Let's see how the cards come out and whether this push turns into anything tangible.
