The Babylonians and Assyrians defeated the ancient Hebrews in battle but their victory did not validate their perverse political and theological dogmas. In fact, just the opposite occurred. It was the defeat and humiliation of the ancient Hebrews that eventually brought the repentance and humility necessary for spiritual and theological victory.
