Slow down a bit! You need to put your drink inside a bag, else is the fridge bar at the hotel room. An able bodied man can't swim in a hotel pool if a life guard is not there.

Since when, I have swam in innumerable hotel/motel pools, non of which had lifeguards, in any case this is not a restriction of law in most cases but a restriction imposed by the hotel to avoid economic damages should you drown. There are however many well meaning laws that restrict my freedom to risk my life, i.e. seat belts, life jackets, bicycle helmets, etc. these I disagree with and resent.

BTW I seldom drink.

Get off of this rights / freedoms. You and TJ seem to think there is a difference between the right say to bear arms, and the freedom to bear arms, there is a right is much stronger. Freedoms can be taken away at a whim of the legislature, such as the freedom to swim where and how one desires. The right to do something requires much more to remove, such as constitutional modification, not an easy task.

You are almost right when you say poorer countries have more freedoms. However it is not necessarily a matter of national income, or national percapita income. It is more a question of crowding. The human is not designed to exist in overcrowded situations, or rather is not selected for crowded conditions. Over time the race will adapt, but at present this effect can best be seen in the Alaskan Eskimo which has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, being economically forced in one generation to go from small family groupings to cities. As population density increases so do laws limiting the length of your arm in relation to my nose.
