Good old Martin.

I think violence is always the method of last resort, and when it is used, it means we have failed- failed to be proactive, intelligent, creative, and humane (whether the violence is used on a child, or on another nation). The fewer failures we have, the better. I'm not sure the foundation has to be love, though, I prefer believing in self preservation and human ingenuity.

Determined non-violent resistance is a really good answer to a number of different problems. But its hardly the answer for every problem.

It would be nice if it was used more often but it isn't a universal solution.
