Republicans control ALL comittees in congress. Not ONE is chaired by a Dem. No favorable legislation can be proposed or pass without Republican assent. The only "power" the Dems have is a very limited ability to block some legislation, and the ability to point out pork in some of the legislation that they are even allowed to study before it is passed. What special interest would even BOTHER to bribe a Dem? What could a Dem deliver? Nothing! Harry Reid will be proven right, this is a Repugnican scandal. Not that the Dems wouldn't do it, just that right NOW, they aren't worth buying.
