Re: "Files Suit to Prevent America From Winning War"

Or, is it 'to prevent America from losing what it is defending, it's FREEDOM'?

Re: "the courts will, in the by and by, rule that the NSA program was entirely legal, as they have many times in the past in similar circumstances."

Entirely possible.

Still, a ruling would serve the important purpose of DEFINING more accurately where individual freedom ends, and where government's rights begin.

And that in itself would be helpful, dispelling much of the VAGUENESS of the current situation, where the Prez seems possibly to be claiming unlimited, unenumerated rights.

I was already uneasy about the protocol for searches being adopted, but Bush’s signing statement on the torture ban convinced me that civil liberties are a legitimate concern while we wage this war.

Yes, but there is a PROBLEM. In order to DEFEND itself the Administration and the NSA may have to release in the court HIGHLY CLASSIFIED MATERIAL that might find itself out in the public arena. Thats the crux of the problem and why the administration did not want a public hearing. For the LIFE OF ME, I cant understand how in the world ANY AMERICAN could find fault with doing anything possible to find and intercept messages between agents in the USA and foreign terrorists. jdn
