Hey, everyone has their own 'gut feelings', and is ENTITLED to them. (And, obviously, an impossible hypothetical such as that could have been materially different if the real world had been different to allow a third term run for re-election....) Never-the-less, Clinton left office with high poll numbers (higher then Bush's are now, and --- at the equivalent point in his second term --- also higher then Bush's now). Polling at the time of the election also showed he 'would have been' a clear winner if his name had been on the ballot. And, that's as close as one can come to an impossible hypothetical.
