""""As for Taiwan, why not admit that Taiwan is a province of China but emphasize that it is self-governing for a protracted transition period of mainland China?""""

No need to admit anything unless China is a democratic and freedom for all society. Then Taiwan and China can talk. Taiwanese would like all Taiwanese (remember that is 95% of all. Not 5%)to keep their options open instead of under any threat from China or any country (including Japan and US).

Why not ask China to admit they are a part of ROC? It goes both ways.

I am sad that you do not understand "under threat" is not just a norm for anyone including you. For a fake neutral like TJ, I feel sad for both HK and China. Luckily he is not a rep. for HK people either. I know HK people myself. They do not act his way.
