Good intentions but that plan wouldnt have worked out better for lower and middle classes and i am a supply sider saying this. I am for a federal pension system where managers are selected and choices given to investors within the context of fiduciary responsiblity. Lets be honest, what would you choose defined benefits or defined contributions? Most folks would be buying enron loaded hyped funds at some point and blow the retirment imho.

"Bush's SS reform plan would have been an improvement for the middle and lower class of people."

It would benefit the country and the lower class as well as the middle class. By the time it made the light of day, virtually all benefits to upper middle class had been stripped out of the proposal. We are getting dangerously close to the time when over half of voters pay no taxes.
