TWO SALES (both approved by the US in the first year of Bush's term): 1) The US's ONLY DOMESTIC source of rare earth metals, necessary for the manufacture of all high-strength magnets, (company owned rare earth mines in Texas & Nevada) was bought and then CLOSED. (China has it's own mine for rare earth metals, in inner Mongolia, and now has a corner on the world market). 2) and the US's ONLY manufacturer of high-strength magnets (made with those same rare earth metals) used in the guidance equipment of our cruise missiles, was also bought up by the Chinese government (with the approval of the Bush administration), the factory was then SHUT DOWN and ALL of it's manufacturing equipment, designs, and engineering plans packed up and shipped off to China.
