Old days they had to pay for layoffs plus over pay for engineers in good times.

Now they talk about generating $500M, half a Billion, in cash!

We'll either get a really nice dividend or they'll buy back shares.

All the earnings include options expensing too...

Newberry and new CFO were pretty good in addressing questions - well prepared.
Based on questions raised I see the financial community (at least sell side) pushing an order growth slow down scenario (new bookings up 25 to 30%) after missing out with regards to upturn.
They also try imply that the better than expected first half bookings scenario will cause problems in second half.
Sustainability is the issue
Newberry also said they have their own research team tracking every move chip makers make or IOW they do their own DD and research rather depending on third party.
That was a response to Fitzy who seemed to be surprised Lam is doing its own bottom up analysis.
LAM believes etch could grow 22 - 24% in 2006; overall capex up 7% to 10% biased towards the higher end based on recent announcement from ProMos, Intel and Powerchip.
To me interesting they quote Intel - perhaps a hint that they are capturing some business with Intel.
Just like Varian LRCX seems to make progress in capturing logic segment.
