Gore was not a smart campaigner in 2000 (even though he won more popular votes than Bush)...He's changed and he's now comfortable in his skin and is very clear, direct and passionate when he speaks...Gore seems to have LOTS of support in this new poll with the party activists that are the types of folks that often vote in primaries...

If Al Gore spoke in 2000 the way he spoke yesterday, he would have won the presidency by a wide margin. If he continues to speak this way now, he could win in 2008. His remarks yesterday were fearless, direct and uncompromising.

Gore let himself be thrown off the track in 2000 by Republicans' personal attacks. "Gore was sighing and rolling his eyes when Bush was speaking during the first debate in 2000". Frankly, all Americans should have been sighing and rolling their eyes at what Bush was saying. Too many voters were taken in by Bush's slick snake oil salesmanship, and now we're all paying the price.

If Gore keeps hammering away consistently at this administration, he could win. This is definitely the worst presidency in American history, and the Democrats need a standard-bearer who will, loudly and clearly, continue to open the eyes of the American people to that simple fact.

I think the comparison to Nixon is flawed. Nixon ran again and won after his loss eight years earlier, yes. But his message in 1968 was cynical and fundamentally dishonest: "I have a secret plan to end the Vietnam War."

I think there is another model for Al Gore, though not a native one. Another politican spent several years in the political wilderness, often ridiculed when he wasn't being ignored. That didn't stop him from speaking truth to power, forcefully and eloquently reminding his nation of political and diplomatic dangers and mistakes.

And after his years in the wilderness, Winston Churchill saved his country. All in all, I think Winnie is a much better model than Tricky Dick.

Flash a big "V" for Gore in 2008!

...they know he (Gore)can't even carry his home state against a determined political assault...

As a resident of Tennessee, I am not so sure this is any longer true.

The True Believers I am acquainted with are waivering on Bushco.

They are finally seeing that they are not Conservatives, but reckless radicals who are causing harm to the republic faster than saner folks can repair it.

Oopss. didn't see you'd made the same comment about Gore not carrying Tennessee...

I wonder if we'll get to revisit the shenanigans of his Uncle... Whit Lafon..

It was claimed that this spectacular investigative report was one of the primary reasons that Al Gore lost Tennessee.

It will creep in to any future Presidential run by Gore in the future, as hopefully will his father's ties to Armand Hammer and OXY.

Also, here's a link to an Accuracy in Media report on Gore and his Uncle.

Btw, the WND report was actually investigated by a local Tennessee reporter who did a class-act investigation on the USS Iowa explosion.
