I don't want to rain on your parade, but if the Democrats latch on to someone who excites their activists then HOPE that person will prevail in middle America, you have an excellent chance of rerunning 2000 and 2004 and losing by a few % again.

Why did Clinton win so easily? He had personal charisma, and he reached out to the people he was trying to persuade to vote for him.

You can't win inside the Beltway until you win in Ohio. That's why I don't take a party-partisan approach to politics. You are rah-rah for your side, other posters here are rah-rah for the other side and NEITHER ONE OF YOU can build a lasting 60%+ governing majority in the electorate.

That's what really matters, not the headlines in one news cycle. Something about politics just causes people to lose their perspective. Personally I think it's because America is raised on high school football - lots of rah-rah, cheer for the home team, boo the bad guys on the others side, it's all over quickly and our heroes go off to the prom.

It's a lousy way to run a country, IMHO.

"There are two problems with the Attorney General's effort to focus attention on the past instead of the present Administration's behavior. First, as others have thoroughly documented, his charges are factually wrong. Both before and after the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was amended in 1995, the Clinton/Gore Administration complied fully and completely with the terms of the law

One might ask Aldrich Ames about that.. He was bagged on a warrantless search, as I recall..

And rightfully so... (I knew one of the guys who was in charge of the "dumpster diving teams" that collected his garbage each day).
