Good news indeed. I think it is pretty much true nationwide, despite hunting. I wonder how PETA rationalizes that?

On the other hand, duck hunting was not futile in 1930 in Dunn County like it is today.

Almost no ducks migrate through WI anymore and dang few through MN.

<<We have to tag our deer and bring them to a registration station before leaving that zone. Often they will have DNR people at the registration stations who with your permission will do age and health surveys on your deer.>>

Used to do that in Illinois but now it's a phone in. Opening day in 1957 one deer was killed in Illinois, total deer killed for all seasons this year will be around 150k, that's not counting the nuisance permit kills that allows a land owner to kill 50 deer, then they check the problem before renewing the permit.

I got stopped at a roadside check one year. Deer tagged, ducks gutted but not plucked, shotguns ok. IDNR complemented my retriever on a tough retrieve he had done earlier in the year while this guy was hidden in a gillie suit 200 yards away watching.

Then, do you have anymore guns?
A .22 pistol in my console.
Can't find it.
2 more guys look for it.
Not there.
Must be at the cabin.
I get home and look and it's between the seat and the console, no case and loaded. Thank God they missed it. Two old ladies and a 10 year old in a van had several blankets in the back for a nursing home in the country. Kid had a BB gun in the blankets for shooting cans in the lower 40 behind the nursing home. Nailed them for a loaded gun in the car.

Another guy from here was stopped with 4 dressed ducks, 2 mallards and 2 woodies.
IDNR, what kind of ducks are those?
All cans (they were on the do not shoot list then).
The I was being a smart ass didn't cut it with the judge, you confessed, $800 fine.
