I'm sure they do believe what he believes. Polls out of the ME show that almost everyone there hates Israel and wants Israel gone. That doesn't mean that many of the folks in the ME want to actually do anything affirmative about that (considering the consequences)- but since it is SO very popular, it makes for great rhetoric- just as the "let's convert them to Christianity" appeals to a certain zealously religious population here. There just happen to be more zealots there- but I'm not sure that getting all fussy on their ass is the way to convince them not to be zealots- in fact, it rather plays to the zealot's hand, imo.
