Re bridges. In the 1960s, the Auckland Harbour Bridge was extended sideways, doubling the number of lanes to 8 from 4, using a Japanese engineering firm. They were dubbed the Nippon Clipon.

I suppose China can do it cheaper these days.

I'm sure you are right that Congress will drool like Pavlov's dogs.

What's wrong with having somebody else do a good job at a cheaper price, I have no idea. Chinese need the work [or they'd bid higher, not lower]. They aren't suffering morbid obesity to any extent. They need more Happy Meals. And CDMA of course.
