True. Ireland has been forced to cave in on several issues by the EU of "ole continental Europe". Now the Germans and the French are after them for their liberal corporate taxation, which actually is the root of their current economy boom. Last but not least Ireland (like the UK and Sweden) was one of the few EU countries to allow free migration of workers from the new EU countries. Again, their economy hasn't suffered from that either! Status quo countries like France and Germany love restrictions of any kind and their economies fare accordingly.
