RE:"A majority of Americans of all stripes want to end illegal immigration. The Republicans want the never ending stream of cheap, easily intimidated and screwed labor, while the Democrats want the neverending stream of marginalized potential new voters.
The citizens just want it to stop."

That's about it. Politicians should be held responsible. If ever there was an impeachible event for Bush this is it. He is not upholding the law of the land.

I still believe the issue of US immigration, illegal or legal, is a little bit more complex than what we see and hear.

Turn off immigration and you get German - and Japanese - problems.

Importing people educated at the cost of other nations no doubt is good business.

Bush shut that down via the visa squeeze.

Importing "illegal" people for the lower paid jobs in the US means getting those jobs covered, additional tax income - and last but not least getting fresh and young blood in quantity to support the pension system for further generations.

That is also good.

The main problem, however, comes from the relaxed requirements for those people to integrate - or get expelled.

We don't need another San Salvador or Honduras right smack in Virginia or elsewhere in the US. You adopt and slip in - or get hell out of this place.
