YUp ,That's how I see it.

Intel is trying to "leap ahead "over the competition.
Once that is established, microprocessors only will be a commodity for low end desk tops.

There is a huge redefinition of modility and Vista that will hit very soon.

Most likely see the true impact in Q4 06 an 07.

BB, OT *** laptop processor vs power consumption

I'm looking at cheap laptops but would like to avoid those with the battery running empty after 1 1/2 hours. Have not found a source for this. Some manufacturers give battery time, most don't.

Is the processor the single most important item determining how long the battery lasts?

Is there a table somewhere comparing processor power consumption?

I'll use the laptop at home only, so recharging is not a problem, but only once a day would be nice.
