I don't spend much time worrying about the tax code, to tell you the truth. I don't pay an unreasonable amount compared to other countries, and it doesn't put a crimp in my lifestyle. I'm sure there are tweaks here and there that could make the code fairer and simpler. I doubt that there is the political will to scrap all the bells, whistles, toys, freebies and outright scams in there now that suit the lobbyists. I am much more concerned about the spending side of government and the lack of fiscal sanity in Washington. It's like someone who has smoked two packs a day for 25 years. They may not be dead yet, and they may live to 90 doing that but the odds are they will have a major health crisis sooner rather than later unless they take some steps to balance their system again.
