the January 420 put traded at 30 cents yesterday - today it hit a high of $15.70 in the equal opportunity financial massacre in which GOOG takes part so vigorously today. i could kick myself for letting this one pass me by...i was actually thinking about this punt in recent days, but didn't act.

so far, the most sensible and least politically correct analysis of OBL's new message has been written by J. Raimondo - it is certain to bring forth howls of indignation from the 101st fighting keyboarders and other Bush-bots, which by itself is a mark of quality.
a very important point he makes is that OBL himself NEVER makes idle threats. he threatens, offers a way out ( the truce, in this case ) , and once he gets the usual reaction, he follows through on the threat. in this the man is very consistent, so this newest threat should be taken very seriously indeed. this has obvious implications for the markets as it were.

2 observations:

1. the air is definitely getting thinner.
2. there are signs of rotation in junior leadership. some of the laggards see inflows, but only the quality ones like e.g. OZN or DROOY. don't laugh, DROOY is 'quality' because it's objectively undervalued. the same can't be said of most other mid tier producers - many are already priced for the moon and beyond.
