In the US there is upward mobility for all immigrant groups. Its like a success parade that is now working for groups from all over the world. In Europe there is discrimination, little affirmative action in any sense of the word. So the euros get their slums--morrocans in spain, turks in germany, algerians and africans in france and south asians in Britain. And for the most part in the slums they stay. Its the type of discrimination american blacks faced until things changed in the 50s and 60s. mike
