Don't know if we need Jack Bauer (I need to watch some more of those, since I only managed to catch the first season before I left for Iraq)..

There's enough internal opposition to Ahmadinejad already.. Better to let the internal dissidents handle the battle, while lending support to select and credible external Iranian leaders. Maybe even the Shah's son, who seems to be building support within Iran.

Of course, any return of the Shah should only occur as a constitutional monarchy, with the primary power residing in the legislature.

Granted, I'm not keen on returning a Monarch to his throne. But if the Iranian people have nostalgia for a King, and his powers are constitutionally limited, it might be a feasible scenario.

If anything, it seems an effective tool that can be used to prod Ahmadinejad into a bit of international conformity.
