this is a pretty funny article about a company that claims to desulphurize sour crude by sonar. apparently Chevron conducted a two-year pilot project jointly with the company (SUF), and then walked away last summer. however, SUF's shares have quadrupled since October, after the company signed up some new partners. what do you think the chances are that this product lives up to its claims* when CVX walked away from it after 2 years on a 2000bpd pilot plant?

btw, according to Barron's, SUF's founder claimed, inter alia, he could de-alcoholize wine without affecting its (the wine's) taste.

* per Barron's: "For just twenty-cents a barrel -- says the Sparks, Nev., company -- its "Sonocracking" ultrasound technology could turn sulfur-sour crude into a sweeter intermediate-grade oil that's worth ten bucks more per barrel."
