People calculate what future wealth will cost them in the present,</i?

Like that recent post by redfish on loan officers doing bad things with short term goals - where are the people that think in forests and not just in trees? The moral majority that really care about their fellow mans welfare?

The crackheads I know can only see the next ICE or METH high - beyond that is irrelevant. Imagine you are underwater choking to death - the only thing relevant to you is the next breath of air - same difference. Of course the preachers only seeing the next new cadillac aren't much better. haha

how much time they need to spend in school to get a better job, how many years they'll take to pay off student loans, how much time they'll end up working to pay for a car or a house or their child's education.

Western woman can find a sucker man to pay all that - why do it yourself when someone else will do it for you for nothing?

My indian friend worked many years slaving away in hot south ga heat and humidity doing hard menial labor in construction and landscaping so his wife could get her college education - paying for her school, house, car, shopping, etc etc - after she got her nice paying job she was supposed to work and then let him go to school to be a lab tech - well she SUCKED him dry and then when it was time to help the team - her SELFISH interests cut his ass - haha - I pity all those sucker men that keep doing something for nothing - what fools. I wish every sucker man would wake up tomorrow and cut all these selfish women. No more young graces getting free rides - the quicker thier free ride ends - the quicker maybe they start caring about more than the next party or new pair of shoes. Perhaps not though - I remember KM posting about the poor rich girls in texas that OD when the party is over - pathetic.

They trade off present consumption to accumulate wealth.

Buffet and friends must see the world differently than you - he says we are selling off the farm - in aggregate - to live la vida loca baby - not delaying pleasure today for happiness tomorrow - in aggregate.

They don't always come out ahead but most do unless they do something illegal or engage in speculation or gambling to get money.

Greenspan and senators are worried that fannie freddie has greatly increased systemic risk for the profit of a few shareholders - robin hood in reverse - what was it buffet said about derivatives? Weapons of Mass Destruction? Most millionaires I know are crooked morally bankrupt sons a bitches - not honest folk.

Criminals almost never accurately calculate the true cost up front, if they did the chump change jobs they sneer at would look far better. Gamblers and speculators don't accurately calculate probability so they too have a negative expected return over time.

I see many corrupt, crooked people at all levels of society and they made the choice that being honest was a game for suckers - and the only way to get ahead was to be more ruthless than the next shark. Greed is good in the world of ME ME ME.

The guy who spends less than he makes and invests the balance conservatively for all his working years dies ahead.

I posted where the UN told japan to raise the retirement age to 77 to help with the pension crisis - more work for you! haha

Substitutes unqualified for full takeover
Letters to the Editor

What is the deal with substitute teachers?

My child has had one since November, and, while I think it's fine for a substitute to fill in, do people realize they are not qualified, certified teachers and have no business taking over classes indefinitely?

I wonder if people know what they need to do to become substitutes: basically nothing. They have a background check and take a group multiple-question quiz. They need no degree of any sort and get paid minimum wage. I do not think you can fail if you would like to become a sub, other than that one could be a blooming idiot, which would be fine if he were doing what he was intended to do.

But that is not the case; they are taking over classes. If subs were supposed to be teaching classes, we would not need certified teachers, would we?
