When I used the term bully pulpit I was referring not only to the place that religious leaders preach from, but also to the place that political leaders speak from. Ronald Reagan was a master of the bully pulpit.

Most religious persons cannot help themselves from injecting their political views to some degree. When they stop doing what they were called to do, and try to sway elections, then they have crossed the line. God will judge them.

Presidents and other political figures have the ability to speak on current issues and change peoples attitudes. Look at the upswing in President Bush 43's popularity after he returned to public speaking.
