Due to the inflated oil prices of the Bush era, Iran is sitting on a trade surplus estimated at $40 billion dollars, which they are moving out of european banks in anticipation of an embargo. Unlike ourselves, they are prepared. They'd be hurt hardly at all, all the pain would be in the west. It's exactly the sort of self-defeating, reactive strategery you'd expect from the Bushies.
