Hi Crazy Pete,

I can see this niche enthusiast will always be spending much more for a marginal edge.

But I also see Intel wanting to accelerate the replacement cycle with greater performance of the combined package.

As we have seen Intel benefit with the fastest clockspeed mpu's ,my vision of the future allows for the matching clockspeed ratings of the mpu, chipset, mother board and memory.

Memory and graphics have long been criticized as the bottlenecks of the box,in so far as slowing down the "perfect box".

My bet is Micron goes the fast memory provider for Intel, while Intel starts making graphics chips that are identified by clockspeed.

As the niche builders of graphics cards can not tie the package together (with memory and mpu) they ultimately die out or at best become insignificant cult like minorities.

It has long been Intels desire to own more of the realestate within the computer.

Graphics cards have been a large success so far and wireless has and will continue to be a very large reason to upgrade within the larger lap top market.

No doubt Intel wants the masses not the niche groups.

After a while the cost for marginal if any additional performance will go the way of 28k or 5mk dial up modems.

JMHO
